Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists focus on three main areas:
  • individual and his/her roles in life
  • environment where an individual lives
  • occupation and the skills required to participate in these activities
Occupational therapists work together with individuals to teach functional life skills and enable participation in activities that are important in their social well-being.
With children, occupational therapists work on developing fine and gross motor skills through play activities, as well as enable children to be independent with developmentally appropriate life skills i.e. toileting, dressing, feeding, bathing and community participation.
